🌟 Strengthening Digital Parenting: Two-Day Parent Awareness Programme at SVVN

In an era where smartphones influence habits, sleep, behaviour, and communication, parenting demands awareness beyond traditional boundaries.

Understanding the growing impact of digital exposure on adolescents, SVVN (Swamy Vivekananda Vidya Niketana) organised a comprehensive two-day Parent Awareness Programme focused on practical digital parenting strategies.

This meaningful initiative was conducted under the guidance of Principal Smt. Anita Bajpeyi, with administrative support from Administrator Dr. Mahesh Kumar Joshi. The vision behind the programme was conceptualised by Head Smt. Usha Nagaraju, who recognised the importance of structured parental guidance in today’s technology-driven world. The sessions were effectively coordinated by Sushil Sir and Vijay Sir, ensuring clarity, engagement, and practical value for parents.

πŸ“… Day 1 – Understanding the Digital Challenges

The first day focused on awareness and clarity.

Parents were guided through the realities of:

  • Excessive screen time and its effect on sleep

  • Reduced academic concentration due to digital distractions

  • Online gaming dependency and reward-based addiction systems

  • Hidden cyberbullying risks

  • Exposure to inappropriate online content

The session emphasised that technology is not the enemy — lack of awareness is.

Practical suggestions shared included:

  • Setting a digital curfew after 10 PM
  • Keeping devices outside the bedroom at night
  • Monitoring app downloads and usage
  • Encouraging device-free family time

Parents were encouraged to guide with consistency and understanding rather than fear or punishment.

πŸ“… Day 2 – Practical Tools and Responsible Action

The second day focused on implementation and parental responsibility.

Parents were introduced to:

  • Screen time management techniques

  • Parental control applications

  • Age-appropriate content restrictions

  • Open communication strategies at home

  • Becoming digital role models for their children

The emphasis remained on discipline with empathy — monitoring without aggression and guidance without conflict.

🀝 A Strong School–Parent Partnership

One of the most encouraging aspects of the programme was the active participation of parents. Their willingness to listen, reflect, and adapt demonstrates a shared commitment toward raising responsible and emotionally balanced individuals.

SVVN firmly believes that education extends beyond textbooks. It includes:

  • Character building

  • Emotional development

  • Responsible digital behaviour

  • Value-based upbringing

United effort towards responsible digital parenting at SVVN.

🌱 Moving Forward Together

The digital world will continue to evolve rapidly. However, with informed parents, responsible leadership, and consistent guidance at home and school, technology can become a tool for growth rather than distraction.

Through this two-day initiative, SVVN reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing disciplined, aware, and balanced young minds.

Because when parents and educators walk together,
students thrive.
